  • Fallout is an apocalyptic RPG series created by Interplay and now directed by Bethesda.
  • Now under Microsoft and Xbox, Bethesda has been busy working on Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI, greatly reducing the chances of a new Fallout game in the near future.
  • Obsidian, who made the legendary entry Fallout New Vegas, recently expressed interest in returning to the franchise once again.
  • But Obsidian said that will depend on Bethesda and other factors.

Fallout is a legendary post-apocalyptic RPG series run by Bethesda and ZeniMax, currently part of Xbox after the 2021 acquisition. The studio is working on Starfield and Elder Scrolls VI, among other projects, leaves Fallout fans desperate for even the vaguest hope of getting a new Fallout game within the next decade. With Todd Howard’s Bethesda seemingly tied, fans are increasingly wondering if another Xbox studio will take charge.

Obsidian Entertainment, most recently known for The Outer Worlds, and grounded, also founded Fallout New Vegas. While Fallout New Vegas was problematic at launch, it’s now considered one of the best in the entire series, with Obsidian’s signature impressive narrative acumen and aggressive attention to player agency.
