With the fifth beta iOS 16Here’s how Apple updated the battery icon on iPhones: face id to display the specific battery percentage rather than just a visual representation of the battery level. The new battery indicator is available at: iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 Models except 5.4-inch iPhone 12/13 mini. Also available at: iPhone X and iPhone XS.
Battery percentage is not available on iPhones with Face ID due to lack of space on either side of the notch housing the TrueDepth camera hardware. The new design adds the specific battery level to the battery icon, providing a better idea of battery status at a glance.
Inside iOS 15 and in earlier versions of iOS, the battery icon shows an image of the battery level, but does not provide a specific percentage. To get this information, iPhone users need to swipe to the Control Center or Today central view to see the battery widget.
The battery icon changes colors based on the state of the battery and the color of the iPhone wallpaper. For example, while charging, the battery icon is green and shows a charging indicator.
The battery percentage can be turned on or off from the Settings app in the Battery section. The battery percentage feature seems to be available on most iPhones with a notch, but it doesn’t appear as an option on the iPhone. iPhone 12 miniiPhone 13 mini, iPhone 11or iPhone XR, perhaps due to space constraints.
The iOS 16 beta 5 is currently open to developers, and Apple will release a public beta in the near future.
