Mystery Flesh Pit National Park It is a fictional project by Trevor Roberts, Who started Reddit for the last few years posting stories and artwork on the websiteIt details the story of a gigantic creature discovered underground in Texas and turned into a tourist attraction (sorry).
It’s such a cool step, kind of like a Lovecraftian Jurassic Parkfull of nonsense but also miserable fear, and slowly get enough fans that it is on sites such as America Today. Given the success of the project and the fact that Roberts built a very detailed world diorama from a linear world storiesa video game adaptation must have seemed like a really good idea to many.
Last week Roberts announced that, Courtesy of Village Fox Mediaa Mystery Meat Pit the video game would be in development, and would be looking for funding on Kickstarter. Billed as “a survival horror video game for PC”, the game would center the efforts of a team tasked with helping Park survive a disaster – remember, this inside a giant beast— Kills 750 people.
A week later, Kickstarter, which was too light on demonstrations or detailed information on development, was trashed, and Roberts said the decision was made after a combination of “fan feedback, a clumsy marketing move, internal disagreements, and some deep introspection.” . Specifically, the process of delegating the work in the game to other people… It didn’t go very well with Roberts. since you wrote (emphasis mine):
My apologies to anyone looking forward to a video game. Most people don’t fully realize how important an undertaking it is to produce even a humble video game. I personally and carefully created each and every piece of it. Mystery Meat Pit project, but something as big as a video game is completely beyond my scope as an individual artist. When I am not directly responsible for overseeing its creation, I cannot guarantee its quality. After this experience, I can say with absolute certainty that there will be no confirmed video game adaptations of the game. Mystery Meat Pit for as long as I live
By canceling this overly ambitious Kickstarter campaign, I sincerely hope to avoid a situation that could be rushed and shoddy gameplay at best, and a complete disaster at worst.. I also hope that my decision to support this particular Kickstarter doesn’t hurt or hinder the excellent work of other trusted, talented creators who are working and working hard behind the scenes to bring you a Mystery Flesh Pit Tabletop Gaming Experience. in 2023
G/O Media may receive commissions
“I don’t have any resentment towards the developers,” says Roberts. “Ultimately canceling was a mutual decision. I think they were a little too ambitious and I had a moment of clarity when I saw that this was going to be disastrous for everyone involved. I think I did the right thing. And for the record, I have always fully supported and continue to support fangames. my statement Mystery Meat Pit The video game was admittedly a little too enthusiastic. Fan games are great. I just think there are too many games/movies/series that are poorly planned cash grabs by exhausted creators and I’m not into that.
ANDIt’s refreshing to see Roberts see the writing on the wall and pull the plug like this now and not months/years later – having already received the money – as many other failed campaigns on the platform do.
Desktop versionIt’s still coming, as Roberts said, should be out early next year.
