Happy Friday, Guardians! Welcome back to one of our favorite episodes on Bungie.net, this week’s Community Focus! This week we’re chatting with a content creator who has a pretty cool job, Kujay!

Hello Kujay! Thank you for taking the time to chat with us! So, let’s start with some background. Who are you, what are your pronouns and where are you from?

Hello, my name is Kujay (he). By day I am an aircraft designer and Destiny content creator by night! I grew up in a small town in eastern Kansas before moving to Southern California after college.

Wait, aircraft designer? Yes, we’ll have to address that in a moment. But first, what got you into gaming and content creation?

I started the game at a very young age, when I was only four years old. I just started kindergarten and there was a Super Nintendo for all kids to play with. this was the first game i played Yoshi’s Island (still a great game to this day!) and oh my god, I’m hooked right away! Fast-forward about 20 years, and after moving to SoCal, I found myself with a lot more free time in school than I was used to (aeronautical engineering classes are no joke!). Then, shortly after Rise of Iron launched, a streaming friend started nagging me to try streaming for myself. After stalling it for a few months, I finally gave up and bought a PS4 webcam. I’ve learned that streaming is so much fun (and something I’m really good at) that I’ve been doing it for almost six years!

This is similar to my nursery style. ๐Ÿ˜Š Well, the big question here โ€” how do you balance both a full-time job and content creation?

Over the years it has been difficult to balance my professional career with the content creation aspect of my life. In the early years, it was every Friday to Monday (usually includes lots of Trials of Osiris help!) but as the years went by and the responsibilities of my day job began to increase, I started to reduce the amount of content I threw out. Over the last two years I’ve started to focus more on YouTube as it’s something I can do “piecemeal” rather than rotating the camera for a live stream. And on the Twitch side of the house, I’m now a “weekend warrior” who only streams on Saturdays and Sundays. It was difficult to juggle the two sides of my life, but it was also PERFECTLY rewarding. How many people design airplanes during the week and come home on the weekend with a successful stream and YouTube channel? This is something I don’t take lightly!

God, it sounds like a crazy journey and you seem to have done a great job keeping it going. You mentioned Yoshi Island but how did you find it? Destiny?

So, interestingly, I took quite a long break from gaming. Destiny came calling. After making Skyrim hell in my senior year of high school, I didn’t play much during my freshman or sophomore college years. However, I was pulled back by the PS4 remaster of The Last of Us (AMAZING game btw!) and didn’t get a chance to play it when it first came out. And then, as if “fate” (blink), a few days after finishing what’s left of usI got an email from Sony inviting me to play the upcoming game. Destiny alpha. I was always more Call of Duty the kid was growing up but most of my childhood friends were FABULOUS. Hello fans. When I asked them about Bungie’s next project Destinythey all described the game as a mashup, encouraging me to try it. Call of Duty, Helloand “Space Skyrimโ€œI decided to give alpha a try soon after and I was instantly hooked. The gunfire was the best I’ve ever experienced. And now, more than eight years later, I’m still helplessly addicted. Destiny Just like when I first landed in the Cosmodrome.

An actor one day, I would love to see him! What type of content do you like to focus on when streaming or creating videos?

I like to focus on endgame content Destinybe it Trials of Osiris or Iron Banner, focusing more on the PvP side. I also love GM Nightfalls and raids and especially enjoy the first day raid experiences with my group!

This is super awesome! Endgame content can be overwhelming, so it’s really great that creators like you help teach and guide others. For these newer players, what is something you want to know before you start, or at least at the beginning? Destiny trip?

Honestly, I wish someone had told me how thoroughly I would be sucked into it. Destiny universe and the wider Bungie community. How do I still play the same game eight years later?! Hahaha, I’m kidding =). But in all seriousness, I wish I knew how important it is to find a solid group of people to play with. Destiny with. I played solo for a good while during vanilla D1 before finding my way to the LFG (Looking for Group) websites. If I hadn’t been enchanted by the OG Vault of Glass, there’s a good chance I’d have stopped playing. Destiny in those early days. The game is much more fun to play when you have friends that you can jump into more challenging content and turn down structures and ideas. That’s why I’m incredibly excited about the future of Guardian Ranks and the in-game Fireteam Finder. Destiny 2 next year. I think these will act as catalysts for thousands of players to start forming their own friend groups and unlock true “endgame”. Destiny.

Yeah! With your focus on endgame content, do you have any advice for players looking to hone their skills as a player?

If you’re someone who wants to dive deeper into endgame experiences, Destiny and improve your skills, the best thing you can do is reach out to other players and start building a group of friends to play with. Destiny with. Duration Destiny Playable alone, the game’s full potential is unlocked when you have an established group of people you can trust, both in casual PvE environments and in the depths of Trials. Teamwork truly makes the dream come true and over time you become a better player as you collaborate with other like-minded players.

Well, it’s time to ask, what is your main character and favorite subclass?

I’ll probably be furious here, but Hunter is my main character and I’ve been desperately addicted to Stompees for the past five years. Going back to Modern Warfare 2, my favorite way to play FPS games has always been speed, speed and more speed! To that end, I’m absolutely in love with Arc 3.0 Hunter. The Speed โ€‹โ€‹Booster is just *chef’s kiss* and Gathering Storm might just be the coolest Super in the game right now. I’ve been using Arcstrider from season 2 to season 8, so coming home to my old baby with Arc 3.0 was incredible!

Ah yes, it’s always fun to go fast in video games! ๐Ÿ˜Š What’s the weather like on your channel?

My channel tends to walk the line between both entertaining and educational. In a moment, we’ll dive deep into his lore. Destiny start speculating about the universe and future stories. Then something completely ridiculous will happen in a Crucible match (at the expense of my opponent OR myself, both happen often!). We’ll often talk about builds or the state of the game as a whole, while keeping things pretty light-hearted and lots of laughs along the way. Just like the balance between my work life and content creation, my channel thrives on the duality between education and entertainment.

Is it fun and educational while keeping it cheerful? Sounds like my place!

Well, it’s time to wrap up our interview but I wanted to ask because you’ve been really inspiring in our conversation so far. What is one thing you want to make sure every New Light knows when joining the ranks of the Guardian?

With the New Light experience available, it can feel overwhelming once you complete your entrance to the Cosmodrome. You are summoned to the Tow Truck and you are presented with mission after mission. My recommendation would be to choose just ONE of these missions and commit alone. Once you complete the first mission, there is a great chance to try out new weapons, increase your Power a bit and get an idea of โ€‹โ€‹the gameplay cycle of the game in general. Destiny. And when most people go this far, the game alone is usually enough to hook them up!

For more specific tips, start using Destiny Item Manager 1000% for a greatly improved inventory experience. That, and be sure to check out Ada-1 every day for these sweet, sweet battle mods!

And finally, where can people find you?

I’m streaming over it Twitch every Saturday and Sunday morning, the occasional video is uploaded YouTube. I am also very active in the country. excitementwith plenty of hot shots and antics to entertain just about everyone!
